HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam – August 07, 2026 – The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has officially announced that the Vietnam International Fisheries Exhibition (Vietfish 2026) will take place from August 19 to August 21, 2026, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City.
Centering on the core theme "Innovation and Sustainability," Vietfish 2026 marks a 27-year milestone of accompanying Vietnam's seafood industry with its largest-ever exhibition scale. The event serves as a strategic springboard helping domestic enterprises enhance their competitiveness, align with global sustainability standards, and expand their international trade networks.
A Breakthrough Launchpad for a Billion-Dollar Export Target
This year's exhibition marks a significant leap forward in both exhibition area and participation numbers. Expanding across a display area of over 14,000 m² (including the Main Lobby, Hall A, and Hall B), Vietfish 2026 brings together 568 booths from 335 leading domestic and international enterprises. The event features representatives from 17 countries and territories, such as the US, Germany, Italy, Norway, Israel, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, China, and more—reaffirming Vietnam's position as a global hub for seafood processing and export. The event is expected to welcome over 13,000 trade and international visitors.
Vietfish 2026 comes against the backdrop of a strong recovery in Vietnam's seafood sector. By the end of the first half of 2026, the industry's total export turnover reached $5.76 billion, representing a 12.7% increase year-on-year. Vietfish 2026 is anticipated to provide vital commercial momentum for the second half of the year, serving as leverage to propel full-year exports closer to the historic $12 billion milestone.
"Innovation and Sustainability" – Elevating Value and Meeting Green Standards
Amid increasingly stringent international trade regulations, Vietfish 2026 focuses on addressing the industry's core challenge: shifting from raw exports to deep processing and raising the proportion of value-added products (Ready-to-eat, Ready-to-cook) catering to modern retail systems, Horeca (hotels, restaurants, cafes), and e-commerce platforms.
The "green transition" is not merely a slogan but acts as a central theme throughout the entire exhibition. The event creates an essential forum supporting businesses in implementing ESG standards and working toward Net Zero goals by building carbon reduction roadmaps, enhancing energy efficiency, and adopting eco-friendly packaging. Concurrently, supply chain transparency remains a top priority, featuring solutions for origin traceability, responsible aquaculture practices, and strict compliance with IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing regulations. These macro-level strategies will be thoroughly analyzed during a series of in-depth seminars, where leading domestic and international experts will continuously share updates on new technical barriers, market forecasts, and global consumer trends.
Breakthrough Highlights Debuting at Vietfish 2026
To optimize trade efficiency and reach broader customer segments, Vietfish 2026 introduces several innovative initiatives:
· Hosted Buyer Program: Implemented for the first time, the Hosted Buyer Program brings key international importers to tour the exhibition and meet directly with Vietnamese enterprises, farming areas, and processing factories in the Mekong Delta. This provides international buyers with a firsthand look at the farm-to-table production process and international-standard export operations.
· Engaging Gen Z via E-Commerce: For the first time, VASEP is collaborating with TikTok Shop and Foodmap to host livestream sales sessions directly at the event, introducing deep-processed seafood products to younger consumer generations.
· Tasty Kitchen Culinary Space: Embracing the message "Export Seafood for Vietnamese Consumers," the event brings together professional chefs from Vietnam, the US, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia to demonstrate and prepare high-quality export seafood products on-site. This activity enables producers to connect directly with domestic restaurants, hotels, and retail channels, thereby reducing reliance on major foreign markets. Interactive minigames and exclusive gift giveaways will also be held.
· "Hunt the Vietfish Bus" Street Campaign: A branded double-decker bus featuring Vietfish 2026 visuals will travel through central streets of Ho Chi Minh City, combined with check-in minigames to spread the event's vibrant atmosphere to the wider community.
Through this comprehensive lineup of activities, Vietfish outlines a clear strategic roadmap for the seafood industry for the 2026–2027 period. For 2026, the exhibition is expected to foster direct connections that help businesses swiftly finalize commercial contracts for the year-end peak season, boost domestic consumption, and directly contribute to the $12 billion export goal. Looking ahead to 2027, the event will continue to serve as a launchpad helping businesses shape early business plans, expand strategic partner networks, proactively upgrade automated tech lines, and comply with ESG standards to maintain a solid standing on the global seafood map.
